What is a blog?
Robert Scobleizer has spend most of his weekend ranting about Microsoft’s claim to be the “…largest blogging service on the planet.”
Richard MacManus, whom runs the excellent Read/Write Web blog, reported this from New Zealand.
Even my tiny corner of the Internet, where I influence a very small number of technology decisions, is more pertinent for advertisers than any of these zero post blogs and spam honey pots on Windows Live Spaces.
I’m with Robert on this one and offer a fully supportive eyeroll in Redmond’s direction. Microsoft’s very loose interpretation of what makes a blog is completely self serving and nothing more than a thinly veiled grab at better advertising rates.
Quick shout out to the makers of ecto, a most excellent desktop blogging tool for Windows and OSX. I just made the switch to it for editing my blog and LOVE the features of having an off-line editor with integration with my on-line blog software. Now, I can maintain several drafts easily off-line before publishing them when they are ready. Very handy and highly recommended to anyone who does any volume of blog article editing.
