Tech Tidbits

With no further delay, here is my MUCH over due tech tidbits:

  1. First, there is a new company that is offering many managed services with an open source twist.? Check out SineWave Technologies.
  2. For those of us who spend entirely too much in time in front of these darn contraptions we call computers, here are 100 Quick and Easy Healthy Foods.? Good to keep some of these around, and your hand out of the Dorito’s bag.
  3. We’ve all heard of WiFi Hotspots and have probably made use of one from time to time.? This device allows you to carry and setup your OWN WiFi hotspot from you Cellular network PC Card.? Very cool.
  4. For those of you that own your own business, often times it can
be a mystery why you didn’t get the job you had worked so hard
on.? The proposal was GREAT, but why was it rejected??
  5. What kind of challenges does Microsoft face from Open Source alternatives?? Read more to find out.
  6. Apple has released a new, NON-ONE button mouse.. finally.? Oh..wait.. what is that thing hanging from the ass?? A CORD?? yuck.
  7. Locally based Wintergreen Systems is partnering to provide Linux based desktop to schools.?
This may be interesting with Linux’s gains in desktop
functionality.? Microsoft is certainly more vulnerable than ever
    and Longhorn continues to slip.
  8. Podcasting moves into space.? The first Podcast broadcast from space is available here.? Seems this concept is really taking off… *BOOOO*
  9. More on the rocket-like success of podcasting (Last one, I promise) – NPR now offers all of their daily programing via podcasting.? VERY cool!
  10. The results are in.? Skype has outpaced Vonage and many others to become North America’s favorite VOIP application.? I wonder if Google Talk will eat into the market share?? Everything Google touches seems to work out.

I have a bunch more to catch up on, and will post another Tech Tidbit in the next few days.?

Enjoy your Thursday!
